Our emotional response to light and shadow is the core theme of my work in oil paints. Our instinctive attraction to light can distract us at first from the objects that it envelops and the shadows that are casted. Simple everyday objects may appear to be much more after the first glance; it creates ambiguity and elicits our curiosity. It suggests perhaps that there is more to what we can see.

What looks visually appealing may not be good for you. I wanted to encourage self-reflections on the effects of poor eating habits. I want to incite curiosity by making my subjects instantly recognizable buy from an unusual perspective and invite viewers to take a closer look.
